Happy Saturday! I made it back in one piece from my school sponsored trip. Are you sensing a theme here? I always seem to be away for my Birthday. The trip was awesome...unfortunately, it was not free of GIRL DRAMA! I did manage to steer clear of all the icebergs that seemed to be walking around on the ship. I'm happy to report Baby Puppy did an awesome job guarding the home front!
While taking in the beauty of the ocean I was inspired to make something special for a good friend's birthday present. I love when I'm inspired with simplicity that can only be found in nature. It sparks my Imagination! What better to capture a memory then making your very own picture frame. It's not just any picture frame...it has no glass because it's magnetic.
Here is everything you'll need to display your favorite memories:
- Picture frame 5x7 opening with 12x17cm backing (Dollar Store)
- Fabric (I used cotton fabric from Walmart)
- Spray Adhesive (Walmart)
- Hot Glue Gun
- Magnets 19mm (Home Depot)
- Small Magnetic White Board (Home Depot)
- Charms to make magnets (Walmart)
- Black Felt
Directions:
- Remove the border around the magnetic board.
- Remove the back of the picture frame.
Spray the front of the magnetic board with the spray adhesive. Place the fabric on the adhesive and smooth it out. The adhesive dries quickly so make sure to smooth out the fabric out quickly. Flip the back of the board, spray adhesive on the back, and fold the fabric over the back of the board. It will leave about a 1" border on the back of the board. Place a heavy book on top of the fabric for approximately 20 minutes to make sure fabric sticks (I used my Dad's Westwood High School Yearbook- Go WARRIORS!).
Next take magnets, charms, and hot glue gun to make magnet charms.
Choose a charm, magnet, and cut a piece a felt for the back of the magnet.
Place a bead of glue on the back of the charm and place the magnet on the back of the charm. Hold in place 10 seconds. Place a bead of glue on the back of the magnet and place the felt on the back of the magnet. Hold for 10 seconds
I made 8 charm magnets. Last step hot glue the back of the picture frame to the back of the cloth magnetic board (make sure to center it).
Finished frame with a picture of the Carnival Imagination Cruise Ship! May your Saturday be filled with simplicity and a lot of imagination!
